Active Ideas LLC
HOVR was created by three friends, an entrepreneur who wished there was a way to exercise while working at a desk without any mental distraction, a rehab physician and a certified trainer. They were influenced by the science of NEAT™ (http://ajpendo.physiology.org/content/ajpendo/286/5/E675.full.pdf) developed by Mayo Clinic and led by Dr. James Levine. NEAT or Non-Exercise Activity Thermogenesis (calorie burning) is the physical activity from small non-exercise movement like walking, gardening, cooking even fidgeting that can be more important calorie- burning movement than three times a week at the gym. HOVR is the first NEAT™ certified device by the Mayo Clinic for the workplace. HOVR's unconscious movement activates the muscles of the legs, improves circulation and joint health, thus offsetting the negative effects arising from prolonged inactivity. Whether in an office, home or classroom, HOVR allows users to lead a more active, healthy, and productive lifestyle (www.hovr.pro). Recent studies show that HOVR increases calorie expenditure by 20% over normal sitting and 7% over inactive standing by allowing the user to engage in multi-directional leg movement. Positive feedback has also come from users affected by deep vein thrombosis, restless leg syndrome, and arthritis. Current studies are being planned to examine HOVR's impact on school-aged children with ADHD, as well as the pre-diabetic population. HOVR’s Activity Tracking capability allows the user to track and share their progress with friends and health providers. The activity tracker calculates steps and calorie expenditure, and transmits this data via Bluetooth. The activity tracker is also compatible with major health apps. The user has the option to either engage in unconscious movement, or in a regimen designed specifically to achieve the CDC's recommended daily 30-minutes of "Moderate Intensity Exercise".
